Samsung Galaxy S10: 5G, infinity-O screen, everything we know about its features

Samsung is preparing a new generation of high-end smartphones in 2019. Four smartphones are on the program, and we've been around all the leaks and rumors about their features, price and release date.

Galaxy S10
Here is everything we know about the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 + and the Galaxy S10e, known as code beyond, beyond X or even Bolt and celebrating the 10 years of the Galaxy family.
Three variants of the Galaxy S10
One of the first concordant information about this new generation is that it will not be composed of 2, but at least three models. This information was confirmed in particular by David Ruddock, editor of Android Police, who interviewed a source deemed reliable. It has since been corroborated by a very large number of sources.
  1. Galaxy S10e: A "lite" model with flat screen and print reader on the edge
  2. Galaxy S10: With a single camera at the front, three at the back
  3. Galaxy S10 +: With two cameras at the front and three at the back

These three large models would add variants of exceptions, such as a 5G compatible version in some regions. This could be the fourth version "Beyond X", intended to be marketed under the name Galaxy S10 X when the "Bolt" model would be reserved in the United States.

According to Roland, the model numbers of the. Samsung S10, S10 Plus, and S10e would be as follows:
  • SM-G970F (Europe)/G970U (USA)
  • SM-G973F (Europe)/G973U (USA)
  • SM-G975F (Europe)/G975U (USA)

The Galaxy S10 design should change dramatically compared to Galaxy S9. It should include a new generation of "Infinity display" screen that should cover the bulk of the front panel. Pictures show the new design from every angle.

With its Galaxy A8s, Samsung has already shown that it can integrate the front-panel photosensors into a hole within the screen. An approach that should be taken for the S10, S10 Plus, and S10e. Moreover, the Korean manufacturer has developed technologies to mask the sensors on the front of the screen, and so no longer have borders around the screen.
The Galaxy S10 + should have as a feature to have two front cameras and thus the screen doubly pierced.

Like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the OnePlus 6T, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ should incorporate an imprint drive under the screen, not at the back of the phone. The brand would also benefit from getting rid of the bulky iris sensor.
Unlike the smartphones of Huawei and OnePlus, Samsung should, however, use an ultrasound fingerprint recognition technology, more accurate and responsive than optical fingerprint readers. However, this new technology could pose compatibility problems with screen protections.
The Galaxy S10e should benefit from an optical fingerprint reader on the edge of the smartphone. Information corroborated by the Mobile dealer Fun. This would also be the only three models to incorporate a flat screen, not a curved slab.

Samsung presented, at the latest developer Conference, a new generation of screen infinity display, with 4 possible shapes: infinity-U with a U-notch, infinity-V with a V-notch, infinity-O where the photosensor is surrounded by a slab, and New Infinity that does not suggest any edge.

According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e should use an infinity-O AMOLED display. This hypothesis is supported by the sources of the reputed Evan Blass, and by photographs of the supposed screens of the Galaxy S10 +.
The "New Infinity" screens, with photosensor hidden behind the screen, should only be reserved for the highest-end models, known as the Beyond X and Bolt code names. These should be released later in the year.

Internal performance and Components Unless surprised, Samsung will once again integrate an Exynos chip developed internally in its high-end smartphone and all its variations. The Exynos 9820 was presented on 14 November and uses an internally developed 8nm LPP FinFet. In the United States, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8150 should be integrated. In both cases, the chip should be accompanied by a 5G modem on some models. Samsung has already introduced its own model, the Exynos Modem 5100.

The Exynos 9820 is an 8 core SoC: 2 High-performance cores developed by Samsung, 2 core Cortex-A75, and 4 core cortex-A55 low power consumption. Samsung promises a 15 to 20% performance increase for single-core spots, and up to 40% energy savings compared to the 2018 Exynos 9810. The graphics chip is a Mali-G76, found on the Kirin 980 of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

The Exynos 9820 incorporates a NPU chip dedicated to artificial intelligence, in the image of what Huawei offers with the Kirin 980. The SoC should be supported by 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM; The LPDDR5 is only intended for 2020. Samsung introduced a 1TB EUFS storage chip that would be ideal for the Samsung Galaxy S10.
The registration of the brand "Neuro Game booster" suggests that the firm will bet on "artificial intelligence" to try to improve the performance of its processor for video games.

The Galaxy S10 would be one of the first smartphones to integrate Wi-Fi 6 according to FCC certification. This is the next generation Wi-Fi, able to theoretically reach 6 Gbit/s. This certification also announces compatibility with the inverted wireless IQ charge, which allows the Galaxy S10 to recharge an accessory or another smartphone by induction. Samsung would do better than Huawei with a load of 9W.

Since the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung also offers several photo sensors on its smartphones, in order to help the camera to take good pictures under various conditions. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus could incorporate up to 5 photo sensors, including three rear sensors. We'd find a main camera, a wide-angle camera, and a telephoto lens. With the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018), Samsung already offers a smartphone with 4 photo sensors on the back.

The classic Galaxy S10 is expected to offer a total of four aircraft one front, three behind and the S10e, only three aircraft (one at the front, two in the back). Ultra high-end models Beyond X and Bolt could finally go up to six sensors, four on the back and two on the front.
Samsung could use the Isocell sensors unveiled in October 2018 which capture a record definition of 49 and 32 megapixels. Huawei Mate Pro 20 incorporates a 40-megapixel sensor on the back. The Exynos 9820 is capable of recording a video up to 8k at 30 fps, or 4k at 150 fps, but nothing says that the features of the camera will follow.
An important element is also the software processing of the photos. Samsung would like to give a more natural tone, and closer to that of the iPhone, to the photos taken with the Galaxy S10.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 will be running Android 9.0 Pie, the latest version of the Google system. They should benefit from the brand new Samsung One UI interface, which replaces Samsung Experience (Ex TouchWizz). The brand presented in more detail this interface in a video. This new interface should also include a portfolio of cryptomonnaies.

Announcement Date, availability and prices
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the Korean brand has surpassed quite widely the 1000 euro bar, since the launch price of the 512 GB version was 1259 euros. The output of a "Lite" variant, less expensive seems to indicate that Samsung intends to maintain high tariffs for its new flagship.

Samsung confirmed it, the Galaxy S10 will be officially presented before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
A source coming from the British distribution advances in book prices, which we have converted into euros, starting from the price difference of the Samsung Galaxy S9 at its launch between France and the United Kingdom.
  • Samsung Galaxy S10e: (749 euros)
  • Samsung Galaxy S10: ( 899 euros)
  • Samsung Galaxy S10 +: (990 euros)
